Rock Drawings of Alta, Norway
In the early 1970's, a spectacular find was made at Alta in the north of Norway. More than 5,000 rock carving were discovered, some of them over 6,000 years old The stylized figures, hewn info the rock, tell of the life led by Stone Age man on the coast of the polar sea, the life et a hunter, trapper and fisherman. The most frequently found motifs, however, are animals, primarily reindeer, which were vital for Stone Age man's survival.
