The report of the 8th yearly Assembly of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) by John Ennals outlines that the main topics of the assembly concerned the Technical Assistance programme, the United Nations Children?s Fund, and other UN activities. It went on record that the assembly was in favour of increasing financial assistance for the aforementioned humanitarian and economic activities, and it was recommended that the UN set up a special fund for the economic development of underdeveloped territories. This assembly was a great success for the political commission, including discussions on the revision of the charter, the right of peoples to self-determination, the Trusteeship system, and the problems in Korea and China at the time.
