Television Around the World
Television Around the World by Henri Cassirer speaks to the growing importance of television in 1954, especially in areas of the world with no electronic industry of its own. This programme presents the results of a UNESCO study called, Television: a World Survey, which is a book that gives a country by country account of television broadcasting, of the ways it is organized and financed, of the television stations already in existence or planned for the future, and of the programmes being broadcast and of the reception of these programmes. This book also analyzes the challenge this new medium posed. This programme highlights the fear many had about the influential nature of the television, and notes that many were wary about its potential negative effects. However, the programme also highlighted that the television?s potential to bring great benefits to viewers and its social impact was stronger than all objections.
