3rd Memory of the World Global Policy Forum, p1- Disasters and the destruction of world’s documentary heritage (Japanese)
The 3rd Memory of the World Global Policy Forum: Enhancing International Cooperation to better safeguard documentary heritage at risk, was hosted by UNESCO and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) on 21 – 22 November 2022 in Tokyo, Japan.
Disasters, whether natural or human-induced, have been the major cause of destruction of the world’s documentary heritage. These risks, including, among others, climate change, pollution, and conflicts, have only increased in recent years. Losing documentary heritage items means not only losing the memories and heritage of local communities and countries, but also of humanity at large.
