As part of the celebration for this year’s Human Rights Day, UNESCO, OHCHR and the Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth (OSGEY) are co-organizing an online international webinar on Transforming education through human rights. aiming at involving youth and deepening their dialogue with policy makers.

This meeting aims to explore the evolving role of human rights and their transformative potential for societies. It requires the input of both young people and policy-makers on the parameters and priority areas for human rights and education, with attention to formulating the next steps in implementing the Youth Declaration on Transforming Education.

This event will build on the ongoing consultative process of the Initiative on the evolving right to education, representing the first time that youth voices will be heard on the subject of the potential expansion or revision of the international legal framework surrounding the right to education.

It will be an opportunity to share experiences, learn from good practices and consider the future of education and its role in building healthy, peaceful and sustainable societies for all.

The event will be held online with English and French interpretation.

The event is also designed in partnership with Amnesty International and Soka Gakkai International.

Three parallel sessions are organized:

Session 1: Youth consultation on the evolving right to education

Transforming education through human rights, session 1 speakers

Session 2: Human rights education & the Youth Declaration
