The UNESCO Office in Venice is looking for qualified candidates to fill in the post of Programme Assistant within the joint programme MDG-F. Scope of the assignment

The incumbent under the responsibility and supervision of the Director of the UNESCO Office in Venice (BRESCE) and/or under the supervision of UNESCO’s Programme Specialist/Officer nominated by the Director, will be responsible for the direct, day-to-day implementation of activities in the field of competence of UNESCO within the joint programmes (MDG-F), ensure their swift, effective, and efficient implementation.
The incumbent will assist in the realization of UNESCO’s Program tasks related to quality economy in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey and other countries in SEE according to up-coming MDG-F projects and hereby supporting the selection and contracting of consultants, experts and contractors, the coordination and management of subcontracts and consultancy contracts, the day-to-day liaison with other project partners and stakeholders, the execution of training activities, the purchase of equipment, as well as the support administration and financial reporting of the MDG-F projects.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Elaborate a periodic overview of the quality economy components related to tangible and intangible cultural heritage (cultural tourism, cultural industries) of the Joint Programmes and support the implementation of the quality economy aspects within the MDG-F Joint Projects;
Assist the OCO and MDG-F responsible project officers in reporting, preparation and coordination in accordance with the rules of the Joint Programmes, and the preparation of documents related to UNESCO procedures.
Assist in implementation, organization and monitoring of activities related to quality economies within the framework of UNESCO programmes, including World Heritage, Biosphere Reserves and Cultural Industries.
Any other duty/task relative to the MDG F Joint Programmes development and implementation or other programmes/projects implemented by BRESCE.
Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the assigned programmes, in particular: provide monthly updates on the implementation status of the programmes and problems, if any;
Provide professional advice based upon his/her specific area of expertise that is relevant to the projects


University degree in the field relative to heritage, heritage management and/or economy and tourism;
At least one year of working experience in similar administrative environments (UN system or UNESCO specific experience is considered an advantage);
Good knowledge of computer use and in particular the Windows environment and the relevant Office software;
Good knowledge of English; knowledge of Italian/French considered an advantage;
