Georgian ECI Coalition: Creating an Enabling Environment for Early Childhood Development
Executive Summary, The Georgian ECI coalition aims to create a facilitating environment for early childhood development by ensuring a systematic approach to ECD for professionals children families care providers and the government The ECI coalition addresses various problems including prevention of abandonment and early detection of developmental risks The strategic priorities include improving the support system for children and families ensuring effective referral and transition and providing highquality services Specific goals include timely identification and monitoring of developmental delays nationallevel support for child and family development and accessible services for children with special needs The ECI programme has been running since 2012 and serves over 2500 children annually across 13 regions of Georgia It is funded by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons Labor Health and Social Affairs and the budget increases based on referrals The ECI coalition has provided training for ECI specialists early childhood education professionals and parents on preschool inclusive education models
