Since the Convention entered into force in 2006, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage drew up, and the General Assembly adopted, a set of Operational Directives, the guiding text for the implementation of the Convention. A new phase of the international cooperation to safeguard ICH worldwide is now starting.

Upcoming Deadlines*
- 30 September 2008: Nominations for inscription on the Representative List (form ICH-02-2009: English | French)
- 1 October 2008: Requests for preparatory assistance for elaborating a nomination for inscription on the Urgent Safeguarding List (form ICH-05-2008: English | French)
- 1 October 2008: Requests for preparatory assistance for elaborating a proposal of a programme, project or activity to be selected as best reflecting the principles and objectives of the Convention (form ICH-06-2008: English | French)
- 2 March 2009: Proposal of a Programme, Project or Activity to be Selected and Promoted as Best Reflecting the Principles and Objectives of the Convention (form ICH-03-2009: English | French)
- 16 March 2009: Nomination for Inscription on the Urgent Safeguarding List (for the first inscriptions in 2009) (form ICH-01-2009: English | French)
- Any time: Requests for international assistance from the Intangible Heritage Fund for requests less than US$ 25 000 and emergency requests (form ICH-04-2008: English | French)
