Presentation

The Association of Municipalities of Ciudad Sur (Asociación de Municipios Ciudad Sur – AMCS), an association that works for the integral development of the territory through the implementation of joint actions between 7 municipal departments of culture, proposes to promote the associative life of cultural agents by: 1) creating associative work platforms for cultural agents; 2) implementing a participatory process for the identification of challenges related to the cultural sector; 3) creating instruments to direct the associative work of cultural agents.

How does this project contribute to the implementation of the 2005 Convention?

  • Strengthens the role of civil society in cultural policymaking and implementation. The project foresees the creation of Thematic Cultural Networks formed by cultural agents of the intercommunal territory and representatives of the local administration. The networks will identify the challenges and needs of the sector and develop strategic action plans to address them, taking the national, regional, and local cultural policies as references.

  • Reinforces the skills and capacities of civil society. Cultural agents will be trained in diagnostic and strategic planning techniques to equip them with the necessary tools to identify their needs and develop strategic action plans.

Main activities

  • Revise the data from the “Map of cultural agents” of the Ministry of Culture to identify and select the cultural agents of the intercommunal territory to form the Thematic Cultural groups.
  • Train the members of the Thematic Cultural Networks to identify the main challenges in each cultural field.
  • Support and guide the members of each Thematic Cultural Network in developing tools that will allow them to methodically orient their action towards the solution of their problems.
