The Oscar Niemeyer archive brings together documents produced and accumulated by the architect and his studio in the course of his renowned and influential career and constitutes an important source of studies as evidenced by the number of inquiries made from all over the world Transferred from Niemeyer´s studio to the Oscar Niemeyer Foundation on a regular basis since 1988 it consists of nearly 1800 albums presenting projects sketches and drawings Of the 598 architectural and urban projects conceived by the architect 342 are represented in these documents which proves their extraordinary relevance for the memory of modern architecture and urbanismThe Oscar Niemeyer Foundation is committed to developing projects to capture resources to conserve process and disseminate the largest collection of documents on the works of Oscar Niemeyer This is a unique heritage and once its integrity security and permanence are guaranteed it constitutes an incomparable source of information and research about an architecture that is in many aspects the precursor of important world trends The sketches albums and drawings from the architect´s archive are the core of this documentary heritage which must be preserved as part of the memory of architecture
