Arabic Language, beyond the legacy – regional conference

Arabic language beyond the legacy

Language is humanity’s mean of communicating and creating thoughts, ideas, and concepts. And as one of the most spoken languages in the world, Arabic’s spate of spread and importance has long gone across continents and cultures.

In recognition of Arabic’s contribution and future, UNESCO is organizing a special event entitled “Arabic Language, beyond the legacy” from 24 to 25 October 2022 in Rabat, Morocco.

The two-day event coincides with the United Nations Day (24 October) and the UNESCO’s preparations for the 10th anniversary of the celebration of the World Arabic Language Day (18 December) and will shed light on the catalytic role of Arabic in shaping new knowledge across the world and promoting dialogue and mutual understanding.

The event, organized in partnership with the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Sciences and Culture, will be held in the premises of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Mohammed V University in Rabat, where academics, researchers, artists and youth will debate on initiatives implemented by UNESCO under the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud programme to strengthen the use of Arabic Language at UNESCO. Artworks from the exhibition “Arabic Language, a bridge between civilizations” will be presented during the event.
