Initiatives are multiplying, raising crucial questions. What are the levers and challenges of AI in this field? What practical applications can be envisaged? How can this technology be effectively integrated into the very fabric of publishing businesses?

All these questions will be at the heart of the debates at the conference scheduled for Tuesday April 23, 2024, World Book and Copyright Day. Join us as we explore the intersection between artificial intelligence and publishing, highlighting the essential role of authors and the risks to literary creation.

Olivier Méjean

Digital transformation and artificial intelligence

In the 2000s, Olivier Mégean managed and developed the start-up Companynews, whose financial information platform rapidly established itself on the markets before being acquired by Euronext. In 2008, he created neopodia, a pure player video & podcast media dedicated to knowledge. In 2011, he became CEO of the international photojournalism agency Sipa Press. He joined Le Point magazine as Chairman & CEO in 2014. In 2018, Olivier Mégean founded omestra, an AI-driven transformation strategy consultancy and its branch dedicated to generative AI.

Peggy Rolland

Literary translator - Author, composer

Peggy Rolland is a literary translator from German and English, author and composer. A 2019 graduate of the ETL (School of Literary Translation), she was secretary, then president of the ATLF (Association of Literary Translators of France) and plays an active role in the ATLF's reflections on artificial intelligence applied to translation. At the end of 2023, she co-created the "En chair et en os" collective with a number of literary, audiovisual and video game translators.

Laurence Mayer-Robitaille

UNESCO

Laurence Mayer-Robitaille has been working at the UNESCO Secretariat in charge of implementing the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions since March 2007. She supports the governing bodies of the Convention in its implementation, and is a specialist in digital issues, international trade/cultural agreements, including preferential treatment, and copyright. Previously, she was an expert in UNESCO's Division of Cultural Policies and Intercultural Dialogue, where she took part in the Convention's negotiations. She holds a PhD in Legal Sciences from the Université des Sciences sociales de Toulouse and a Doctorate in Law from Université Laval (Québec). In 2008, she published a reference work: "Le statut juridique des biens et services culturels dans les accords commerciaux internationaux" (The legal status of cultural goods and services in international trade agreements), published by L'Harmattan, Paris.
