The Creative Caribbean Project supported the 8th annual Women on the Stage International Theatre Festival in the Dominican Republic. The festival is held annually as part of the events to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women events. Funded by the European Union and the support of the Organisation of ACP States, the project encouraged the presentation of works against gender-based violence and made visible theatrical works produced and performed by women.

With the participation of 20 theatre groups and more than 40 stage presentations, the public enjoyed a professional, high-quality and entertaining programme, which allowed for reflection on important issues.

The festival featured a wide variety of activities, including workshops, talks and forums on gender-based violence, dramaturgy, theatre and acting, offered free of charge to schools, universities and alternative spaces throughout the country. The festival opened with the play "Pajarita" by Teatro sin Guardia of Argentina, and presented outstanding theatrical works from Argentina, Spain, Uruguay, El Salvador, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

The project is organized by the Absoluto Teatro Foundation, headed by Elizabeth Ovalle, Playwright, Actress and Theatre Director, and was held until December 9, with the participation of seven countries: Cuba, El Salvador, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic as host.
