Director-General condemns murder of journalists Yessenia Mollinedo Falconi and Sheila Johana García Olivera in Mexico

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has denounced the killings of two online journalists, Sheila Johana García Olivera and Yessenia Mollinedo Falconi, who were shot dead in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, on 9 May.
I condemn the killings of Yessenia Mollinedo and Sheila García. Journalists are witness bearers whose work provides an indispensable contribution to public dialogue and peaceful societies. I call on the authorities to investigate these murders and to take all necessary measures to ensure journalists can do this important work without fear.
