Violence is a form of censorship. Worldwide, journalists face harassment, imprisonment, violence, or even death—simply for doing their jobs. Studies have shown that women journalists are targeted online significantly more than their male colleagues.

Who are these women? What are their stories? What inspires them to keep going? What are the positive developments? How do we further combat this chilling trend?

This photo-exhibition will partly be a visual presentation of UNESCO’s report “The Chilling: Global trends in online violence against women journalists." The exhibition will highlight the work of UNESCO’s CI sector on the gender dimension of Safety of Journalists.

It will highlight the threats and how they affected their work, what keeps these women journalists going, positive developments and what work has been done in the field by organizations like FPU and UNESCO or by their own government.
