UNESCO will convene a World Conference on Culture and Arts Education from 13 to 15 February 2024, at the Ministerial level, with the view of adopting a global Framework on Culture and Arts Education. Hosted in Abu Dhabi by the United Arab Emirates, the World Conference is expected to strengthen inter-ministerial policy dialogue towards a more integrated approach to education and culture. The Conference will federate – alongside with Member States – a wide range of stakeholders working at the nexus between culture and education, from intergovernmental organisations, and other UN Agencies, to UNESCO Chairs, UNITWIN Networks, academia, and civil society organisations, from all regions of the world, to share their expertise and knowledge and shape new approaches, practices, and innovative ideas, as well as build creative alliances. Building on the legacies of the World Conferences on Arts Education in Lisbon in 2006, and Seoul in 2010, the 2024 World Conference on Culture and Arts Education in Abu Dhabi – which will expand the spectrum of arts education to encompass culture in all its dimensions – will be critical to engage such broad diversity of stakeholders to bring forward a global coalition for culture and arts education. Such coalition will contribute in shaping more integrated policies and practices that anchor the cultural dimension in educational systems towards achieving content and context-relevance quality education, thereby better equipping all learners with the relevant knowledge and skills they need today and will need tomorrow
