Fighting racism and discrimination through multistakeholder partnerships

10 November 2023
11:00-11:45 in the Partnerships Hub (Halle Saxe)

In the framework of UNESCO's Roadmap against Racism and Discrimination, SHS is organizing this side event to the 42nd session of UNESCO's General Conference to take stock of progress made, lessons learned and the way forward in establishing partnerships to fight against racism and all forms of discrimination. While it is important to establish legal and institutional frameworks, and to advance academic and scientific knowledge to deepen the understanding of how inequalities and injustices have emerged and remained, it is also imperative to engage with other stakeholders to work together on all fronts. Combatting racism and discrimination needs a whole-of-society approach that involves not only governments and academic communities, but also civil society, the private sector and media. Shared responsibilities and diversified action plans across all sectors are the only guarantee of possible success. Featuring UNESCO’s partners, this side event will showcase the various initiatives that have been undertaken with government and civil society actors to accelerate on-the-ground efforts to build inclusive and equitable societies.

This session will be conducted in English.
