Following the project launch in June 2023, the UNESCO Member States will be given the first look at the schematic design of the museum designed by Mr Francis Kéré, laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2022. The presentation will be followed by an exchange with Member States regarding the project.

Announced by the Director-General at the UNESCO World Conference – MONDIACULT in September 2022, the Virtual Museum will be a game-changing tool  to raise awareness on the illicit trafficking and the importance of protecting cultural heritage among the relevant authorities, culture professionals and the general public, notably young generations. It will also represent a catalyzing moment among the international community who has made continuous efforts over the years to put the illicit trafficking of cultural objects on the policy agenda.

This is an in-person event held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The event will also be livestreamed.
