National Meeting of UNESCO Chairs in Chile
The National Meeting of UNESCO Chairs in Chile will be held to strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange among Chairs, the National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO, and the UNESCO Office in Chile. This event is a unique opportunity to recognize the achievements of 2023, plan the priority thematic areas for 2024, and establish effective collaboration mechanisms.
Objectives
- Celebrate the progress made by the UNESCO Chairs during 2023.
- Define the priority thematic areas for the year 2024.
- Develop coordination mechanisms for effective collaboration among the UNESCO Chairs, the National Commission (NATCOM), and UNESCO.
The UNITWIN and UNESCO Chairs Program, initiated in 1992, connects over 850 institutions in 117 countries (as of 2023). It promotes global cooperation and inter-university links to strengthen institutional capacities through knowledge exchange and collaboration. This program supports the implementation of UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN networks in areas such as education, natural and social sciences, culture, and communication. The involved institutions share resources to address urgent challenges and contribute to social development. The Chairs and networks have proven crucial in formulating educational policies, promoting innovation, and cultural diversity.
Chile's commitment to this program has been demonstrated in previous events, such as the virtual meeting on October 28, 2022, and the celebration of 70 years of Chile's presence in UNESCO. The country has highlighted the importance of strengthening ties and promoting collaboration in key areas.
