Project

Raf Sur Seine

At just 10 years old, Raphaël decided to participate in cleaning up the river Seine. He fishes with a magnet and a grappling hook, as well as the desire to raise awareness for as many citizens as possible.

Two to three times a week, Raphaël uses powerful magnets to fish for waste in the Seine. By removing more than 11 tons of waste in 2020, he helped to accelerate the clean-up of the river and Parisian canals. According to Raphaël, fishing with magnets or grappling hooks is simple, playful, fun, and anyone can do it! Waste can be removed quickly, just make sure to contact the authorities to ensure it is not prohibited for safety reasons.

1 day, 1 action

Raphaël wants to raise awareness among as many citizens as possible. With the Instagram account Raf_sur_Seine, or when he fishes on the Parisian banks, he invites everyone to take one small action to depollute. “Something must happen every day, 1 day 1 action for the environment, and don't wait for large events to act” he explains.

Raf_sur_Seine works with Little Citizens for Climate and received the City of Paris medal for his engagement. The Paris City Council has given two containers to exhibit the finds of Raphael and his father from September 15 to October 15, 2021 in front of the Musée d’Orsay.
