The training was organised as a part of the “Silk Roads Heritage Corridors in Central Asia – International Dimension of the European Year of Cultural Heritage” project funded by the European Union and implemented by UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty since 2018.

12 participants from Kazakhstan for the training were identified and recommended by the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Restoration in museums and World Heritage sites is particularly important in Kazakhstan as it helps preserve our history and culture for future generations. When we restore old artifacts, we restore their former beauty and significance. Restoration helps to protect objects from destruction by time and because of natural disasters such as earthquakes or fires. It is a way to preserve our identity and heritage for future generations so that they can learn and be inspired by our history.

The purpose of this training was to improve the skills and opportunities for young professionals, specialists in the field of archaeology and museum workers engaged in field surveys at World Heritage sites in the field of emergency conservation and restoration of found valuables both in the field and in the laboratory.

The training program includes theoretical and practical sessions.

The event was held in an offline format in Almaty at the scientific restoration laboratory “Ostrov Krym", which provides participants with everything necessary for deep immersion in the subject of the training and practical application of the acquired knowledge.
