On the margin of the 2024 Science, Technology and Innovation Forum (STI Forum), this side event is organised by UNESCO, the OACPS R&I Programme of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Secretariat, and the UN Interagency Task Team on Capacity-building in Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (IATT-WS6).

The event will discuss interventions and tools to strengthen policy implementation in the field of science, technology and innovation, using case studies and presenting key findings of two recent publications:
- OACPS/IATT Handbook on how to formulate and implement effective Research and Innovation (R&I) policies.
- UNESCO Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Instruments for the Sustainable Development Goals: A Global Outlook (to be published soon)
Representatives from the OACPS Secretariat, UNESCO, the IATT-WS6 entities, as well as country officials will share experience on designing and implementing policy instruments on science, technology and innovation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
