UNESCO and Tencent collaborate on the Tanyuan Initiative 2023

The Sustainable Social Value Organization under Tencent has been implement an initiative called Tanyuan since 2020, with the goal to promote the cooperation between multiple social parties with a focus on scientific and technical innovation in cultural heritage.

In 2023, Tencent upgrade the Tanyuan initiative to not only collect potential digital solutions for the culture sector, but also select the most promising solutions to provide capacity building and incubation support.

Within the scope of the Gansu Revitalization and Innovation Project (GRIP), UNESCO and Tencent join hands to pilot in Gansu, promote a collective journey toward preserving and promoting cultural heritage in the face of rapid technological advancements.
