UNESCO Director-General in Azerbaijan for the 2nd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue

The UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, will travel to Baku, Azerbaijan on 29-31 May 2013, to participate in the 2nd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, at the invitation of H.E. Mr Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Director-General will take part in the Opening Ceremony and the Forum’s session “Cultural corridors in Southeast Europe, Black Sea and Caucasus regions – shared heritage, common responsibilities, sustainable future”, co-organized with the Office of the President of Bulgaria, Mr Georgi Parvanov (2002-2012).

In the course of the visit, Irina Bokova is expected to meet with H.E. Mr Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

She is also expected to meet with Mr Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr Abulfas Garayev, Minister of Culture and Tourism, and, in this context, to sign two agreements -- a Framework Agreement for cooperation in the areas of education, sciences, culture and communication and the Host Country Agreement concerning the 8th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
