A UNESCO photo exhibition on the Universe of Indian Women in Science is being held at the Madras Art Guild festival located at the VR Centre, Chennai from 22 September 2023 to 22 October 2023. The photo exhibition is based on the UNESCO publication, A Braided River – The Universe of Indian Women in Science,  published in 2022.

The images presented capture the emotions and aspirations of various women scientists, at different stages of their career, in professional as well as personal settings. It highlights women at the frontiers of science and technology in India. Just like the waters of a braided river circumnavigate many obstacles on its way, from the spring to the sea, women scientists in India face many impediments as part of their work and their personal lives.

If more women are involved in science-policies, engineering, and technology advancement, humanity would have less problems with contemporary issues, including the Triple-Planetary-Crisis.
