UNESCO Green Citizens on the Paris Metro!

On 27 April 2023, a poster campaign promoting the UNESCO Green Citizens initiative was put up across 100 different stations of the Paris metro in France.

The posters are comprised of double visuals, drawing on UNESCO’s expert knowledge to underline the key issues the planet faces on one side, and presenting a concrete solution to the issue provided by a UNESCO Green Citizens project on the other.

Made possible thanks to Media Transport and the Klorane Botanical Foundation, our founding partner, the campaign aims to raise awareness and mobilize individuals to get involved in climate action.

The poster dedicated to Biodiversity research reads:

"About 6.4 million hectares of forest are lost every year, the equivalent of 600 times the area of Paris."

Dr Noëline Raondry Rakotoarisoa - Director, Man and the Biosphere Programme, UNESCO

"Replanting endemic species that are more resistant to climate change, that's our way of protecting the forest and its ecosystem."

Dayana Duarte, Coordinator, Environmental Education - Iracambi Rainforest Research Center Project

"We use a technology that accelerates the growth of coral, allowing them to be restored within months."

Oshiko Riley, Coral Aquaculture Technician, Coral Vita

Visitors are invited to visit the UNESCO Green Citizens website directly via the QR code on the poster, where they can browse through 150 environmental projects across 64 countries. These projects are taking significant steps to tackle climate change and preserve the environment, in the fields of Biodiversity, Education for Sustainable Development, Hydrology, Indigenous and Local Knowledge, and Ocean.
