As part of World Water Day, a discussion entitled "Partnerships and Cooperation to Achieve SDG 6: Contribute to the Water Action Decade and Ensure the Water Resource" will take place on March 31st.

The aim of this event is to provide a space for decision makers, water users and interested individuals in the water sector to discuss and share experiences on priority issues defined at the United Nations World Water Conference 2023.

The discussion will focus on the presentation of the World Water Report on Partnerships and Cooperation, as well as the five priority themes defined at the 2023 World Water Conference: water for health, water for sustainable development, water for climate, resilience and the environment, water for cooperation, and the Water Action Decade.

This event will feature the presence of the Director of UNESCO San Jose, Alexander Leicht, The Natural Sciences Specialist of UNESCO San Jose, Juan Criado, Berta Olmedo from SICA, Jose Miguel Zeledon from the Water Directorate of MINAE. In addition, for the Confederation of Communal Aqueducts FLU will join us Guillermo Barrantes, the Coordinator of the "Connecting Communities and Ecosystems" project of UNDP, Maria Celeste Lopez, the Representative of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) for North America, Central America and the Caribbean, Rodney Martinez, the member of the National Emergency Commission (CNE), Carlos Picado, the Regional Coordinator of the Central America Youth Water Network, Kenneth Alfaro, the UN Women representative, Gloriana Turcios, and Ovidio López from the Indigenous Table of Costa Rica will participate.

This discussion is crucial to emphasize the importance of establishing partnerships and improving cooperation in all dimensions of sustainable development to accelerate progress towards SDG 6 and ensure the human right to water and sanitation. The event will encourage dialogue and experience sharing among key actors in the water sector, which will lead to more effective solutions to the challenges we face regarding water resources.
