The 'Walk of Water' art exhibition
The Walk of Water: An Intergenerational Journey
Water is a powerful force that has inspired artists for centuries. From the vastness of the ocean to the serenity of a mountain stream, water can evoke a wide range of emotions and ideas.
The Walk of Water: An Intergenerational Journey (The WoW) is an innovative project led by UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) that combines art, culture and science to share clear messages on the state of the world’s freshwater in the past, present and future.
The WoW is conceived as a journey between the past, present and future that takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the most varied 'water worlds'. With this perspective, the exhibition highlights the current challenges related to freshwater management and governance in different regions of the world, as well as the more forward-looking solutions that can be implemented through new partnerships and strengthened cooperation.
Through a sequence of over 60 evocative images, divided into sections dedicated to the past, present and future, the WoW exhibition offers a unique opportunity to highlight different perspectives of water, stimulating intergenerational dialogue, enhancing the ancient knowledge of water management, and reinforcing the urgent call for water action.
The exhibition designed by WWAP is supported by the Joint Research Center (European Commission), the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP), the Global Network of Water Museums, in collaboration with the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, Science Research Policy, the Arts Coalition for Water and twelve other partners.
An international tour of the exhibition will take place in the next days in Washington DC and in Brussels, at the European Commission.
Whether you're a water professional, art lover or simply curious about the beauty and complexity of water, the Walk of Water exhibition is not to be missed. Visit this art exhibition and be inspired by how water has shaped, is shaping and will shape who we are as human beings.
