World Water Week: Partnerships and Cooperation for Water

At current rates, progress towards all the targets of the Sustainable Development Goal to ensure access to water and sanitation for all (SDG 6), is off-track. The 2023 edition of the United Nations World Water Development Report describes how building partnerships and enhancing cooperation across all dimensions of sustainable development are essential to accelerating progress towards SDG 6 and realizing the human rights.

UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme organizes a session at World Water Week to present the latest UN World Water Development Report.

The lead agencies from members of the UN-Water who contributed to the Report will share with the audience the findings of the Report, titled ‘Partnerships and Cooperation for Water’, to clearly make the case that enhancing positive and meaningful cooperation amongst the water, sanitation and broader ‘development’ communities is required to accelerate much needed progress. As the theme of the Report is aligned with the interactive dialogue number 4 of the UN 2023 Water Conference, the session will also provide the opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of the Water Conference.

Representatives of UN agencies will take the floor to describe the different dimensions of Partnerships and Cooperation in water domain, the synergies and the opportunities. Panel discussion will also be complemented.

The event takes place at World Water Week on 23 August (16:00 - 17:30) in Stockholm, and it is on site and online.
