Equity and Inclusive Education
Central Asia faces issues of educational quality that lead to unequal opportunities and growing inequalities in societies, making UNESCO’s education programs essential. To achieve this implementation, UNESCO Almaty will support national education stakeholders to strengthen the quality and relevance of education and competency-based learning for all learners. This will be supported by UNESCO’s various donor-funded projects to advance educational policy and planning, digital education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), higher education, and education for sustainable development.
Protecting Heritage and Fostering Creativity
To ensure that culture takes it rightful place in development strategies and processes, UNESCO has adopted a three-pronged approach: it spearheads worldwide advocacy for culture and development, while engaging with the international community to set clear policies and legal frameworks and working on the ground to support governments and local stakeholders to safeguard heritage, strengthen creative industries and encourage cultural pluralism.
Building knowledge societies
Knowledge and information have a significant impact on people’s lives. The sharing of knowledge and information, mainly through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), has the power to transform economies and societies.
