The UNESCO Constitution calls for building peace in the minds of people.

UNESCO Bangkok's flagship project supports the development of innovative teaching and learning materials on the shared histories of South-East Asia. The materials emphasize similarities, complementarities and mutual respect while acknowledging differences at the same time. Transforming the way South-East Asian histories are taught could play a vital role in shaping a harmonious and peaceful future. The pilot teaching materials are now being used provisionally in 14 secondary schools in seven countries. The materials will be mainstreamed in national curricula throughout the sub-region. Other dissemination channels are also being explored, including exhibitions, apps, online courses and children's storybooks.
