Supporting Teacher Development

The Teacher Development programme of UNESCO Bangkok aims at contributing to Target C of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4): ‘By 2030, substantially increase the supply of qualified teachers, including through international cooperation for teacher training in developing countries, especially least-developed countries and and small island developing states’. In line with the ILO-UNESCO Joint Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers and through various projects, the Teacher Development programme supports UNESCO Member States in the Asia-Pacific region in developing national teacher policies and improving pre- and in-service teacher training.
