Art exhibition “Sacred Planet” advocates for the SDGs, an initiative of Ms. Ute-Henriette Ohoven, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador

Tuesday 19 September 2023 marked the opening of the exhibition “Sacred Planet for #Art4GlobalGoals” by the artist Rita Sabo at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

As part of the #Art4GlobalGoals campaign initiated in 2018 by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Ms. Ute-Henriette Ohoven, Rita Sabo’s exhibition features 17 sculptures in the colors of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), raising awareness to the importance of preserving and protecting our planet.

 

Assistant Director General of Priority Africa and External Relations M. Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah inaugurated the exhibition, stressing on the importance of maintaining progress made by UNESCO in this regard: 

It is not a coincidence that this opening is taking place as the United Nations General Assembly gets underway in New York.” […] Through her art, Rita Sabo is committed to increasing awareness on the environment, creating a better connection between people and nature, protecting, and preserving our planet, and ultimately creating a better future for the generations to come.

As a longstanding humanitarian advocate, Ms. Ute-Henriette Ohoven has dedicated nearly 30 years to sustainably improving living conditions and education, particularly for children in need. 

The Deputy Permanent Delegate of Germany to UNESCO, Dr. Axel Küchle congratulated Ms. Ohoven for “her will to create a better world for future generations and the founding principles of UNESCO [that] have guided her work.”

As the founder of the You Foundation, Ms Ohoven continues her advocacy for the SDGs, through the language of the arts, reiterating the meaning of #Art4GlobalGoals:

Only 6 years are left to realise the goals of the Agenda, therefore it must be very clear to all of us, that no second can be lost to engage actively.

The opening was followed by a musical performance featuring the French singer Enola Cox and a reception. 

The exhibition “Sacred Planet for #Art4GlobalGoals” runs from 19 to 27 September at UNESCO Headquarters in the Ségur Hall in Paris.
