Egypt and United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework

Ceremony

The United Nations Framework for Cooperation for Sustainable Development (referred to as the Cooperation Framework) represents the main document and instrument organizing the cooperation operations and programs between the United Nations Organization in Egypt (the resident and non-resident agencies) and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and it represents the most important and strategic tool for planning and the implementation of the United Nations development activities in Egypt in order to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The newly signed 2023-2027 Egypt and United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) builds on the previous strategy and incorporates national strategies & presidential initiatives by focusing on 5 pillars:

  1. People, to work towards equal access to quality services and social protection
  2. Prosperity for a people-centered inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic development,
  3. Planet to enhance climate resilience and natural resource management,
  4. Governance for transparency and accountability,
  5. Women & Girls for socioeconomic empowerment across sectors.

In the joint steering committee chaired by the Ministry of International Cooperation and the UN RC, these 5 pillars were curated through #cooperation between diverse national entities and ministries, as well as UN agencies, in accordance with the country’s national agenda and #SDGs.
