UNESCO Cities Platform

UNESCO is committed to enhancing urban sustainability through policy advice, technical assistance, and capacity building, by drawing on its longstanding normative and operational experience in the fields of education, sciences, culture, communication and development. Thanks to multi-disciplinary cooperation among all its Programme Sectors, as well as its worldwide network of stakeholders, UNESCO has become a key frontrunner in the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda.

Coordinated by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network' Secretariat, the UNESCO Cities Platform (UCP) gathers eight UNESCO networks and programmes focusing on or closely related to cities, reflecting the Organization’s comprehensive and intersectorial approach to cities and sustainable urban development.
