Education Sector-wide Coordination

UNESCO as part of its education coordination role globally is facilitating education strategy development and financing dialogue among education partners.
Sector-wide education policy and planning

UNESCO is co-leading the Education Strategic Thematic Working Group (Ed-STWG) under the Afghanistan Coordination Group (ACG) bringing in both the humanitarian and development actors together to engage in the education sector-wide strategy development and financing. 

As a member of the Education Cluster Strategic Advisory Group, UNESCO is responsible for contributing to the timely and effective education response about technical decision-making outside the wider cluster coordination meetings.

UNESCO is also (co-)leading the Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group, Tertiary Education Working Group and the Teacher Support and Development Forum for Afghanistan.

UNESCO is strengthening the education sector's capacity to facilitate access to quality education service delivery in Afghanistan through: 

  • Enhancing Education Sector evidence generation 
  • Strengthening inclusive Education Sector Coordination  
  • Enabling education service delivery within the humanitarian and development continuum 
  • Facilitating Education sector-wide technical and financing dialogue 
  • Enhancing coordinated joint monitoring of education service delivery.
