Les rapports In Focus diffèrent des rapports mondiaux et régionaux. Ils analysent généralement une question émergente, étroitement liée au développement des médias ou à la liberté d'expression. Leurs conclusions sont incluses dans l'édition principale du rapport sur les tendances mondiales des médias.
Les trois rapports In Focus, préparés en 2019, sont la continuation du travail de l'UNESCO pour rendre compte des tendances des médias. La mise en œuvre de la résolution 36 C/ 53 fait l'objet d'un rapport à la Conférence générale et peut être consultée dans le lien ci-dessous.

The global version of the report is published every four years. Ahead of the publication of the new global edition of the report, UNESCO explores changing issues in the areas of freedom of expression and media development through issue summaries and other publications.

UNESCO organizes a series of events globally and nationally to bring together policymakers, academia, civil society, the private sector, governments and international organizations to discuss the findings of the report. These events are closely coordinated and planned by UNESCO field offices and national commissions, as well as reporting researchers and peer reviewers.
Publications are also distributed to member states, partners, media and press freedom research networks.
