Yemen World Heritage. Archeology Art and Architecture

The Oriental Art Museum, the Venetian Institute for Cultural Heritage (IVBC) and the Italian Archaeological Mission in Yemen  will conduct a series of events from 20 October to 16 December, 2016 at the Oriental Art Museum, Venice, Italy in order promote and raise awareness about the historic and artistic richness of cultural heritage in Yemen.  A series of seminars and meetings, conducted by various national and international experts at the Oriental Art Museum, will bring the public closer to the specificities of the history and culture of Yemen. Within the conference room photo-descriptive panels will be on display to illustrate important aspects of the archeology, art and architecture of Yemen as a direct testimony of the work conducted by both the Italian Archaeological Mission and the Veneto Institute for Cultural Heritage. On 16 December 2016, a conference will be organized at the Museum of Palazzo Grimani in Venice.

 

This initiative is under the framework of UNESCO’s #Unite4Heritage campaign and is a continuation of the Yemeni Heritage Week: Museums United for Yemen, was organized by UNESCO Doha Office in collaboration with The Ashmolean Museum; The British Museum; Freer|Sackler, Smithsonian; Louvre Museum; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museo Nazionale d’Arte Orientale “Guiseppe Tucci”; Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera), Russian Academy of Sciences; The State Hermitage Museum; The State Museum of Oriental Art; and The Walters Art Museum.
